“Yera is an outstanding Pilates Instructor!!”

After working with other Pilates instructors over the years, I didn’t realize what proper Pilates instruction could be until I started working with Yera three years ago.

First of all, if you are actually looking to getting your money’s worth in a Pilates lesson, Yera is focused on working out, and helping each of her clients achieve something each session. (I think my previous instructors were happy to chit chat the hour away).

In addition, Yera is extremely knowledgeable about the human body, physiology etc. I have a number of health issues (prior knee surgeries, osteoporosis, etc.), and Yera does an excellent job of modifying exercises to meet the needs of the individual. She focuses on safety and slowing building your strength. Yera also tailors each class to meet the learning needs of clients. For me, one of my great breakthroughs was due to Yera’s ability to simply activities so that I could focus on one or two things. Often I would try to do too much or overthink a particular exercise. Yera’s ability to break things down really helps me gain competence and confidence in my abilities.

And finally, while we work hard, Yera makes each class enjoyable by changing things up during our sessions, so I don’t lose interest. One session we might so some foot work on the Reformer, then focus on balance exercises, then move to the chair. Thanks Yera for helping me gain strength, confidence and good health!

I have been working with Yera an average of three times a week for more than a year, and there are many reasons that explain why I enjoy and value her as my Pilates instructor. It is clear that Yera has a plan for every session, and the progression of exercises that make up that plan are always challenging, never boring, and totally focused on improving my alignment while building my strength. Yera has the unique capability of being both demanding and encouraging at the same time. She pushes me to try new things and to more fully master my approach to things we've been working on for awhile. When I have difficulty with some aspect of a particular exercise, she finds alternative ways for me to approach it. Her cues and corrections are clear, and she gives positive feedback to let me know when I'm on target. On the few occasions when I have injured myself between sessions, Yera has been able - on the spot - to alter our plan for the session to help alleviate any pain I'm experiencing. She does this with confidence and sensitivity, and follows up in subsequent sessions to make sure that nothing we're doing is aggravating or activating the original injury. I have been working with Yera Kim for about two years. I started pilates after throwing out my back and numerous knee injuries. Despite a physically demanding job and active athletic life, I haven't had any injuries since Yera and I started working together. I've worked with a few other pilates teachers, but none seem to have the knowledge base and skills that Yera has. Now that I am seven months pregnant, I'm especially careful and Yera is the only pilates teacher I trust.
